One in three Texans rent their place of residence, yet only half of those renters bother to get insurance. In my experience, there are two main reasons renters don’t get insurance: either they didn’t know it was available, or they think it will be too expensive.
The reality is there are plenty of options available for renters and these policies cost a small fraction of a regular homeowner premium. That’s because the tenant is literally only insuring their personal possessions, while (sometimes) adding in a nominal amount of liability coverage at the request of the landlord.
And like homeowner policies, most renter policies cover your personal possessions wherever you may be.
